The City Council of New York
The Center for Space Science was made possible by the generosity
of the New York City Council and the vision and on-going support of
Alan J. Gerson.
NASA
Many of the resources employed by the Center for Space Science
were created by NASA. Additionally, the Center for Space Science
works with NASA’s Educational Program Specialist at the Goddard Space
Flight Center to stay up-to-date on NASA’s current educational initiatives.
The National Challenger Learning Organization
Created by the families of the crew of the Challenger shuttle,
the Challenger Learning Centers were designed to educate students about
space science and the mission of Challenger. The National Challenger
Learning Organization is comprised of all of the informal learning
institutions that house Challenger Learning Centers, including the
NYC Center for Space Science Education. Annual meetings of the
National Challenger Learning Organization provide opportunities for
all of these institutions to share the ideas and programs they have
used at their sites.
The American Museum of Natural History
The Center for Space Science has worked closely with the American Museum of Natural History to develop curricula, such as Airplanes and the Atmosphere, and to create opportunities for teachers and students to experience thought-provoking and memorable out-of-class education.
